Event :FireKeepers Casino 400

Venue: Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn, Michigan)

Date/Broadcast: Saturday, August 8 at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN

A doubleheader at Michigan International Speedway is up next on the revised 2020 NASCAR Cup Series schedule for competitors, with a pair of 312-mile races scheduled this weekend.

Saturday's FireKeepers Casino 400 and Sunday's Consumers Energy 400 will mark the second doubleheader weekend this season, following the Pocono Double at Pocono Raceway in June where Go Fas Racing driver Corey LaJoie netted two top-23 finishes.

The 28-year-old also tallied top-23 finishes in his two starts at the 2-mile Brooklyn, Michigan track last season, and will look to further improve his Michigan statistics this weekend with the help of Schlüter-Systems in the FireKeepers Casino 400.

Schlüter-Systems, a world leader in the development of innovative installation systems for ceramic and natural stone tile, will kick off the weekend with the No. 32 team. It will be the second time this year that the organization - which has more than 900 employees across the globe - will appear on LaJoie's car as a primary sponsor.

Tune in on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET as LaJoie and the GFR team take on 312 miles of action in the Irish Hills.

LaJoie on the upcoming race:
"It's been awhile since we've had this good-looking Schluter-Systems Ford on track and I'm really excited to give it a good run this weekend at Michigan. We're right in Ford's backyard and it is unfortunate that we can't have anyone from Ford or Schluter with us at the track this weekend. We really miss having our fans with us at the track and I really miss having the Schluter folks with us but we'll be sure to put on a good show for them on television!"

LaJoie's Cup history at Michigan International Speedway:
Starts: 6
Best Finish: 21st (2019)
Average Start: 32.2
Average Finish: 28.7

Looking back on New Hampshire Motor Speedway:
Corey LaJoie and the Trump 2020 Ford finished 35th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon over the weekend, concluding a challenging day in the Granite State. LaJoie was relegated to the rear at the start of Foxwoods 301 due to a ballast issue during technical inspection. Without Crew Chief Ryan Sparks atop the Go Fas Racing pit box, team engineer Roy Gangdal filled the role to lead the team.

Early on, LaJoie reported a right-front chatter and tight conditions. Despite the unfavorable handing, the North Carolina native showed speed, reaching the top-25 after collecting a pit road penalty during the competition caution. Under the opening stage break, Gangdal called LaJoie to the pits for service, including an air pressure adjustment.

At lap 131, the Trump 2020 Ford was contesting in 29th before a mechanical issue arose, hindering his ability to continue. After going to the garage for repairs, the No. 32 Mustang returned to the track, 38 laps down. Over the balance of the event, LaJoie was able to gain two positions to take the checkered flag in 35th. LaJoie and the GFR team head Michigan International Speedway next, a track where they had great results last season, finishing 23rd and 21st.
